CHRISTIAAN KUYVENHOVEN

PIANIST * PRESENTER

Pianist Christiaan Kuyvenhoven is one of the most versatile musicians of his generation. In 2005 he won the Third Prize at the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht. As a result he has played concerts all over the world. Last season he toured The Netherlands and the United States with his theatrical pianorecital ‘Cosima’. “Kuyvenhoven is not only a highly gifted pianist, but also a natural born storyteller”, headlined the 4-star reviews.

With ‘Cosima’, Christiaan introduced a unique stage format of classical music combined with a theatre monologue. He was rewarded for it in 2014 with a Wagner Stipendium Award by The Wagner Society of The Netherlands. The show was released on DVD, broadcasted worldwide by Brava Klassiek.

To share his passion for music with a wide audience, Christiaan has also developed his skills as a presenter. He appeared in numerous television shows of Dutch broadcasting company NTR; hosted the opening of TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht in 2014; Concertgebouw Classics in Amsterdam and the Gala Finale of the Liszt Competition in the presence of Queen Maxima. For NPO Radio 4, Christiaan hosts the ‘MAX Avondconcert’: live broadcasts of the best concerts from the national and international stages, regularly in cooperation with the European Broadcasting Union.

In 2016, Christian will premiere ‘The Coper Garden’. A theatrical pianorecital based on the music novel by Dutch writer Simon Vestdijk.
